Spok CNO to Discuss Nursing Communication Challenges at AONE 2017

SPRINGFIELD, Va. (March 14, 2017) – Spok, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Spok Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPOK) and the leader in healthcare communications, today announced that representatives will share the latest enhancements to its suite of clinical communication solutions at the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) annual meeting in Baltimore, March 29–April 1. The Spok Care Connect® platform features solutions such as clinical alerting  and secure text messaging that help nurses mitigate alarm fatigue, improve workflows for nurse calls and patient alarms, and help route and escalate messages based on staff schedule and device preferences.

Dr. Nat’e Guyton, RN, MSN, CPHIMS, NE-BC and chief nursing officer at Spok, will be exploring the communication challenges that nurses face every day in a conference focus group titled “What Keeps You Up At Night?“ “Nurses are constantly on the move, which creates unique challenges,” said Dr. Guyton. “We want to know what will help them collaborate with care team members and stay connected to their patients while managing heavy workloads.”

AONE celebrates “50 years of inspiring leaders” this year, and will bring together thousands of nurse leaders for educational sessions, focus groups and networking. The event provides an opportunity for professionals to share intelligence on current challenges and discuss trends, and is a forum for advocacy and research to advance nursing practice and patient care.

“We know that nursing leaders are dealing with some tough issues, from patient safety to staff retention and recruitment to keeping up with technology changes,” said Dr. Guyton. “We hope to learn more about their concerns and what can be done to make communication technology more effective for them.”

Spok helps hospitals improve patient care and satisfaction by enabling them to use their communication infrastructure for more meaningful, secure, and timely information sharing. Attendees are welcome to stop by booth 662 for a demonstration of Spok® solutions and to meet with representatives.
