VCU Health honored with Innovation Award for alleviating clinician burnout and improved call handling times
SPRINGFIELD, Va. (Oct. 28, 2019) – This week Spok, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Spok Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPOK) and a global leader in healthcare communications, welcomed more than 120 attendees to Connect 19, the Company’s annual conference for healthcare professionals. The event, taking place in Orlando, Florida, gives healthcare clinicians, IT experts, and C-suite executives a chance to discover the future of healthcare communication technology.
“We are excited to come together with our customers as they continue to explore options to improve care collaboration and patient safety,” said Vincent D. Kelly, president and chief executive officer of Spok Holdings, Inc. “As Spok moves its communication technology to the cloud, this conference gives our customers an opportunity for hands-on training and resources that will help them get the most out of their Spok investment now and into the future.”
This year, Spok is pleased to present its 2019 Innovation Award to VCU Health for achieving improved efficiencies and closing communication gaps with the innovative use of their Spok solutions. The Virginia-based hospital is working to make it easier for physicians and nurses to communicate, reducing burnout and ultimately improving patient outcomes. Supported by Spok’s technology, the health organization has streamlined processes in their call center and cut call handling time by 15 percent.
“Because of Spok and our partnership, we are able to get in contact with the physician who is taking care of our patients with simply the touch of a button,” said Stacy White, Nurse Manager of Telepage & Service Response at VCU Health. “This technology gives clinicians more time to be with their patients and provide the best care possible.”
In addition to an agenda rich with industry trend discussions, Connect 19 attendees will learn from other customers through case studies, receive hands-on training and product updates, and attend new product sessions.
Updates from the conference are being posted to the Spok Twitter feed.
