Spok to Share Healthcare CIO Perspectives on Hospital Communication at Becker’s Annual Conference

SPRINGFIELD, Va. (April 11, 2017) – Spok, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Spok Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPOK) and the leader in healthcare communications, today announced that its Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Andrew Mellin, will be presenting “The Healthcare CIO Perspective on Supporting Clinical Workflows” during the Becker’s Hospital Review 8th Annual Meeting in Chicago, April 17–20.

With almost 20 years of experience as a physician and healthcare executive, Dr. Mellin has an extensive background in healthcare information technology and the development of innovative clinical solutions. He will be discussing key insights revealed by recent surveys Spok conducted with healthcare leaders across the U.S. Dr. Mellin will share how to turn these insights into actions, including how health system leaders can connect the dots with workflow-driven communications as well as best practices for involving the clinical teams in communications-focused technology projects.

“The surveys revealed many of the challenges and opportunities that health system leaders face to support clinical workflows with communication and mobile strategies,” said Dr. Mellin. “Key to our findings, we noticed that successful organizations are involving clinical leaders in these types of projects to ensure adoption and desired outcomes, while trying to balance the security needs of the organization with end-user desires for ease of use.”

One of the surveys was administered by CHIME to more than 100 CIOs, who responded to questions about their big-picture goals, the use cases driving their mobile app selections, and the common workflows for improvement. Spok explored the evolution of mobile strategies in the other survey, which asked more than 300 healthcare professionals, across the U.S., how their institutions handled everything from communication and management policies to strategic goals.

Spok helps hospitals improve patient care and satisfaction by enabling them to use their communication infrastructure for more meaningful, secure, and timely information sharing. Spok offers a full suite of solutions, called Spok Care Connect®, which integrates with existing workflows in the hospital and enables the organization to deliver information quickly and securely into the hands of the clinicians for action—wherever they are and on whatever device they are using.

The Becker’s conference brings together hospital business and strategy leaders to discuss the opportunities and challenges that face hospitals. Dr. Mellin’s presentation will be on Tuesday, April 18.
