Spok to Demonstrate Emergency Response Solutions at Five Public Safety Conferences

SPRINGFIELD, Va. (March 25, 2015) – Spok today announced it will showcase its emergency response technologies and solutions at five public safety conferences across the country over the next few months. The first conference begins today in Somerset, N.J., with the New Jersey Government Management Information Sciences (GMIS) 2015 Technology Education Conference, and culminates in June at the annual National Emergency Number Association (NENA) Conference and Expo in Denver.

Spok will demonstrate its emergency response capabilities at each event, including its public safety answering point call-taking and dispatch console, enhanced 9-1-1, emergency notification, and critical alerting solutions. While an increasing number of government, military, and municipal organizations work with Spok to support their emergency response programs with the latest technology, the Company plans to introduce other public safety organizations to its extensive portfolio of emergency response solutions during these conferences.

“We bring decades of experience in emergency response technology,” said Colin Balmforth, president of Spok. “More and more organizations—from military bases and local governments to hospitals and universities—are turning to Spok for efficient public safety communications that help save lives. Our solutions provide a highly reliable communications infrastructure that supports timely emergency response.”

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in Castle Rock, Colo., is one local government agency that recently implemented Spok’s critical alerting solution. Sheriff’s Office personnel use the Spok solution with its computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system to deliver time-critical messages to any staff member device. The organization was seeking a robust and flexible solution that would allow dispatchers to send notifications for everything from planned system maintenance to incidents requiring immediate response.

“We rely on the Spok solution,” said Anne McNulty, applications specialist at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. “It is used effectively by all county entities, including the dispatch center, patrol units, medical units, the jail, and the courthouse. We would recommend the Spok solution to other agencies looking for a similar solution.”
